2006 NY/NJ WHITE SOX
SWEEP SPRING AND FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
The NY/NJ White Sox completed an extremely successful 2006 season adding the 2006 Lou Gehrig Fall Championship. The Fall Championship completes a season sweep for the Sox (2nd time in team and league history) as the Sox won the 2006 Lou Gehrig Spring Championship.
The Sox entered the 2006 Lou Gehrig Fall Playoffs with a record of 8-2 and the Number 1 seed. In the Semi-Finals, the Sox took on a long time rival in the Kearny Rangers. Ace David Jiminian got the call and shut down the Rangers. Kevin O'Neill led the Sox offense going 2 for 3 and collecting 2 RBI leading the Sox to a 6-2 victory.
Onto the Lou Gehrig Championships where the Sox took on the #2 Seeded Colts Neck Braves. In the Regular season, the Sox and Braves split a double header with each team winning by scores of 2-1. The Finals would prove to be just as exciting. In game 1, Randy Shupe took on Chris Bott. The game was scoreless through 7 innings, and the Braves would take advantage of Sox errors to take a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning. But the Sox would not fold. In the bottom of the 9th, back to back singles by Light and Mercado got the offense going. With 1 out, Surman singled to load the bases, and Williams reached on an infield single to push across a run. With the Sox down 3-1 and 2 outs, Championship MVP Jason Leyner lined a 2 run single to left field tying the game. David Jiminian then came up and lined a single to left scoring the winning run and giving the Sox a 1-0 series lead. Randy Shupe dominated as he pitched the complete game allowing only 1 earned run on 8 hits and struck out 8.
Game 2 would be just as exciting. Colin Feneis of the Sox took on Pat Jackson of the Braves. The Sox jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an Home Run by Kevin O'Neill. Adam Light's RBI groundout in the 4th, and Feneis' RBI Single in the 5th gave the Sox a 3-0 lead. The Braves would fight back scoring 4 unearned runs giving them a 4-3 lead. But once again, the Sox would not be out done. In the 8th, Jason Leyner led off with a Double. O'neill singled Leyner to 3rd with 1 out and Danny Mercado pushed the run across to tie the game. In the 9th, Steve Surman led off with a double, and with 2 out, Jason Leyner came through again with an RBI Single winning the game. Colin Feneis pitched a complete game, not allowing an earned run on 7 hits and striking out 11.
In 2006 the Sox Finished the Spring Season 17-3 in the Regular Season and 4-0 in the playoffs. In the Fall the Sox finished 8-2 in the Regular Season and 3-0 in the playoffs for a COMBINED 2006 RECORD OF 32-5.
In 2005 the Sox Finished the Spring Season 16-3-1 in the Regular Season and 0-2 in the playoffs. In the Fall the Sox finished 9-1 in the Regular Season and 3-0 in the playoffs for a COMBINED 2005 RECORD OF 28-6-1.
In the Last 2 Years the
Sox have compiled a Record of 60-11-1
to go along with 3 Championships!
NY/NJ White Sox head to Arizona!
The NY/NJ White Sox take a break from Lou Gehrig League action as they head to the NABA World Championship Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. The Sox take their break from the Fall Season with a 2-0 Record after defeating the Allied Mets 10-4 and followed that up with a 5-4 victory over the Kearny Rangers. Their 2-0 Record has the Sox in 2nd place behind the 3-0 Colts Neck Braves.
But now its Tournament Time... Current White Sox players:
SS/P Joe Alvarez, 1B/P Jason Leyner, 3B Randy Shupe, C Danny Mercado, C Adam Light, OF Sharif Upchurch, OF Gary Gottlob, P/OF David Jiminian, P Jose Arroyo, P Joel Arroyo, and P Anthony Simone, welcome some new additions for the Tournament as they look to win their First NABA World Series Title. The ball was fielded on a hop, but the umpires ruled it a catch and gave the Irvington Cardinals the title. the Sox were robbed of the title as Doug Rader lined the game tying single to right field. To make sure this year doesnt come down to that same situation, The Sox Add: Reigning Arizona MVP Rich Aleman, who will be added to the middle of the lineup, along with fellow NJ Phillies: SS/2B Juan Pacheco, OF Hector Espinal, OF Luis Betancourt, and P David Chaves. Along with the Phillies players, the Sox added Infielder CJ Cirelli from the Jersey Shore League, along with P Colin Feneis.

runs, walked 5, and struck out 1. It would not come easy for the Sox as Mike
Carey kept the Sox hitters at bay allowing only 9 hits, and 5 runs in 8 innings
of work.
The Yankees jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd on a Beloff RBI Single. The Sox
fought back in the bottom of the 2nd on a 2 run Single by Danny Mercado. The
Yanks would continue to fight as Beloff once again comes through with a 2 run

Sox vs. Yankees
Rematch of 2003 Championship Series
The NY/NJ White Sox will host the Saddle River Yankees in a rematch of the 2003 Lou Gehrig Championship. In 2003 The Sox entered as the #6 seed, while Saddle River was the #2 seed. The Sox defeated the Brewers in round 1 behind Jiminian 7-0, then defeated the 3 time Defending Champion Verona Marlins 2 games to 1. In game 1 of that series, the Sox overcame a 13-0 4th inning deficit to win 18-13 in extra innings. Joe Soto was the series MVP. In the finals, the Sox took on the Saddle River Yankees. In Game 1 with the Sox up 8-6 in the bottom of the 9th inning, Frank Kellenher hit a 3 run walk off Home Run to give the Yankees a 1-0 series lead. In game 2, David Jiminian came in and dominated the Yankees to even up the series. Game 3 was another great game won by the Sox, Tony LePaige got the win and Championship MVP David Jiminian got the Save.
This year, the Sox won all 3 games in the regular season. On Opening Day, David Jiminian pitched 7 innings of 1 hit shut out ball in the Sox 11-1 win. Game 2 saw Randy Shupe shut down the Yankees in a 10-4 victory. In Game 3 Dave Wasserman won a pitchers duel against Jose Arroyo 4-1.
Saddle River is making the Lou Gehrig League Finals for the 4th consecutive year. The Yankees look to win their 1st Championship at the expense of the Sox, who are looking to win their 5th League Championship...
Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday August 20th, 7:00pm at Larry Doby...
The Sox Sweep Brewers!
Win Game 1 - 10-3 behind Jiminian and Upchurch.
Win Game 2 - 8-5 (10inn) Behind Wass, Shupe, and Killian.
The NY/NJ White Sox advance to the Lou Gehrig League Finals with a Sweep over the Defending Champion Parsippany Brewers. Pitching and a complete team effort helped the Sox in both games. The Sox will now wait for their opponent as Saddle River and Ridgefield Park will play a deciding Game 3 on Saturday August 19th. Game 1 of the Championship Series will be on Sunday night, 7:00pm at Larry Doby in Paterson.
Sox Take 1-0 Series Lead...
The #1 seeded NY/NJ White Sox opened the 2006 Lou Gehrig
Semi-Finals with a 10-3 victory over the #4 seeded Parsippany Brewers. David
Jiminian started and was dominating on the mound. Jiminian pitched a complete
game, 9IP, allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run, walked 3, and struck out 13. The
struggling Sox offense scored early and often today. In the first, after a
leadoff walk to Capogna, Alvarez SAC bunt, led to an RBI Single by Upchurch, and
later an RBI Sac Fly by Jiminian. Adam Light singled home a run in the 2nd to
give the Sox a 3-0 lead. After the Brewers made it a 3-1 game, Jiminian quickly
got that run back with a single in the 3rd. With the Sox up 5-1, they would blow
the game open in the 7th due to some wildness by the Brewers pitchers. 3 hit
batters, a walk, a sacrafice, and 2 hits later, the Sox had themselves a 9-1
lead (Shupe, Alvarez, and Upchurch each collected an RBI). Catano would add an
RBI Double in the 8th for a 10-1 lead before the Brewers would score 2 unearned
runs in the 9th inning.
The Sox take the 1-0 series lead and look to close out the Brewers in game 2 on
Sunday night, 7:00pm at Smith Field in Parsippany...
Sox Advance to the Finals!!!
The NY/NJ White Sox advance to the Lou Gehrig Championships
with an 8-5 victory over the Parsippany Brewers in 10 innings. The Sox swept the
2 game series and await the winner of the Saddle River/Ridgefield Park series...
Dave Wasserman got the start and pitched an outstanding game before running out
of gas in the 9th inning. Wass pitched into the 9th (8+IP, 10H, 3ER, 2BB, 12K)
allowing back to back singles before being replaced by Randy Shupe. The Sox were
ahead 5-2, but the lead would not stand. After the back to back singles, a HBP,
Error, Walk, and 2 Wild Pitches gave the Brewers 3 runs to tie the game. With 1
out and the winning run on 3rd, Vallela was walked intentionally and Kolding
grounded into the 1-6-3 double play to end the inning. The Sox would then score
3 runs in the 10th inning to win the game...
The Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a 2 Run Home Run by Jim Killian.
With the score 2-1 in the 5th, Killian hit his 2nd Home Run of the game giving
the Sox a 3-1 lead. The Brewer would again cut the lead to 1 before Upchurch hit
an RBI Double in the 6th. Killian would drive in his 4th run of the game with a
fielders choice in the 9th giving the Sox a 5-2 lead. After the Brewers tied the
game in the bottom of the 9th, the Soxwould not back down and kept the bats
going in the 10th. Colon led off with a Single and stole 2nd. Wasserman, trying
to Sacrifice, laid down a perfect bunt for a single putting runners on 1st and
3rd. After Wass stole 2nd, Colon scored on a wild pitch.Mercado then hit into a
fielders choice (advanced to 2nd on the run down). Reissner then singled, and
Joe Alvarez hit a 2 Run Double giving the Sox an 8-5 lead.
This was another complete team victory as the Sox used 15 players in the game,
with 14 players reaching base at least once. The Sox will now wait and host the
Best of 3 Championship Series on Sunday August 20th, 7:00pm at Larry Doby in
Paterson.
1 Run all the Sox need vs. Marauders
Jason Leyner pitches 8.2 shut out innings, and
hits RBI double as Sox Win 1-0
The NY/NJ White Sox won their 13th game of the season with
a brilliant 1-0 victory over the Englewood Marauders. Jason Leyner started and
was simply masterful on the mound. Leyner pitched 8.2 innings allowing no runs
on only 5 hits, walked none, and struck out 9. Jay's biggest threat was in the
5th when the Marauders loaded the bases with 1 out but back to back strike outs
ended the inning... The Sox would push across the only run of the game in the
3rd inning. With 1 out, Juan Williams doubled to left field, followed by an RBI
Double by Jason Leyner (yes he did it all).
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: In the 7th inning, Phillips of the Marauders led off
the inning with a double. But the refusal by the Marauders to bunt him over to
3rd cost them the game.
Lost in the highlights is the great pitching performance by Tremayne Sheppard.
Shep pitched 5 solid inning allowing only 1 run on 4 hits, and 2 walks. Great
relief work by Scarber and Gianella completely shut down the Sox. Scarber then
pitched 3 hitless innings, and Gianella came in for 1 hitless inning (3 K's) of
relief work.
OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason Leyner 1 for 2 (RBI Double, BB), Juan Williams 1 for
3 (Double, R, HBP), Dave Wasserman 1 for 3 (Single), and Mike Reissner 1 for 4
(Single, SB).
Congratulations to the Leyner Family!
Congratulations on the birth of their 2nd

2005 Lou Gehrig Fall
The NY/NJ White Sox captured their
4th League Title with a 7-1 victory over the NJ
Knights. Juan Williams took the mound and was
brilliant (9IP, 2H, 1ER, 8BB, 4K) allowing only 2
hits in the contest. The Sox would lead this one
from the first inning on. Jiminian gave the Sox a
1-0 lead with a Sac Fly. Alvarez made it 2-0 with an
RBI Double in the 5th, and Lou Colon's RBI Single in
the 6th made it 3-0. Williams would then get himself
into and out of trouble in the bottom of the 6th.
Williams walked the first 3 batters of the inning,
struck out the next 2, then allowed a run on a wild
pitch. The Sox would then put the game out of reach
in the 7th when Alvarez led off with a Single.
Williams and Cruz hit back to back home runs to give
the Sox a 6-1 lead. An error would give the Sox a
7-1 lead in the 9th. The Sox swept the series 2
games to none.
On the Offense: Nephty Cruz completed a great season
going 3 for 5 with a Single, Double, Home Run, R,
RBI. Joe Alvarez went 3 for 5 with 2 Singles,
Double, R, RBI, 2SB. Lou Colon went 3 for 4 with 2
Singles, Double, RBI. Juan Williams 1 for 4 with a 2

Single and Run a piece. David Jiminian 2RBI.

family members for dealing with baseball until the
end of November! Take some time to rest and relax.
See you guys next season!!!
The Sox ROBBED of World Series Title!
The NY/NJ White Sox entered the NABA World Series Baseball Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona with high expectations. After rolling through the first 3 games, the Sox hit a road block in the Arizona Angels. The Angels gave the Sox their first loss which was followed up by a tie to the Newport Storm which saw their playoff seeding drop to #5. In round 1 the Sox visited the #4 Newport Storm which tied the Sox 2-2 in Round Robin Action. Billy Malloy pitched a complete game, Cruz, Gottlob, and Leyner provided all the offense the Sox would need in an 11-4 win. The Sox lost team leader Joe Alvarez in the contest, which proved to be a huge loss later in the tournament. Alvarez, one of the top defensive players on the team, was also hitting close to .500 for the tournament.
Onto the Semi-Final Round as the Sox visited the #1 seeded Arizona Angels. Not phased by the 20-2 drubbing the Angels gave them, the Sox responded and jumped out to an early 8-2 lead. Joel Arroyo held the Angels down before tiring in the 5th inning. The Angels tied the game off the combination of Arroyo and Muniz before Billy Malloy took over. Malloy held serve and the Sox pushed across a run to win the game 9-8.
Onto the Championship Game vs. the #3 Seeded Irvington Cardinals. Defensive miscues help the Cards jump out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Sox would not fade. In the 4th, the Sox would respond by putting up a 3 spot on RBI hits from Cruz, Leyner, and Rader. Then the umpires would get involved in the game. With the Sox up 3-2 and 2 runners on, Billy Malloy hit Valezquez with a pitch. The umpires promptly threw Malloy out of the Championship Game feeling it was intentional. With no outs and the bases loaded David Jiminian came into the ball game. Jiminian got a ground ball double play from Dixon, which tied the game. With a runner on 3rd and 2 out, Aleman hit a LONG 2 run home run to give the Cards a 5-3 lead. But the Sox would continue to battle. In the 6th inning, David Jiminian drove in a pair of runs with a Double in the gap to tie the game. In the bottom of the 7th, with 2 on and no out, Jiminian walked Brandon to load the bases. Needed a ground ball or double play, Nicosia relieved Jiminian with Gottlob. On the first pitch, miscommunication between Gottlob and Light allowed a run to score. Gottlob would settle down and retire the Cards in order, but the damage was done. Down 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th, the Sox would make one final push. After a leadoff walk to Leyner, Mercado came in and laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt. Light would then reach base on an error by Brandon at 3rd base putting runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Mercado pinch ran for Light and was promptly picked off of 1st. The turning point of the game would then follow. With 2 out Doug Rader lined what looked to be a base hit to right field which SHOULD have Tied the game. The umpires ruled that Wells caught the ball in right field which the ball clearly hit the ground. The umpire ran off the field and refused to get help HANDING the Cards the title.

Yes, that's Luis Amador after Jiminian K'ed him! LOL

After another Season comes to an end for the Marauders
THE SOX SAY GOOD-BYE
The Sox unfortunately will say good bye to long time White Sox, Erik TenCate. Erik joined the Sox back in 1999 and has been a solid bat in the middle of the line up. To join the Sox, Erik was willing to learn the outfield positions as he was mainly an infielder. TenCate's decision to leave the Sox was based on his busy week schedule, as the owner of the Training Zone, and wanting to spend time with his wife and 2 young kids. A man who loves baseball, Erik would have done anything to help the team win. Well respected in the league, Erik will look to find a team in the B division that plays mostly night games. He will be an enormous asset to any team that he joins. As long as the White Sox franchise has a team, Erik TenCate will always have a place to play! Thank you Erik for everything you have done for the team, keep in touch!
