Sharif Upchurch

Sharif Upchurch continued his hot hitting going 2 for 4 and making a number of defensive plays in the outfield to keep the game close.

Doug Rader

Doug Rader came through in the clutch again for the Sox.  Rader's RBI Single in the 4th gave the Sox a 3-2 lead.  In the 9th, Doug came up with what should have been the game tying hit, which was taken away by the umpires.

Jason Leyner

Jason Leyner continued his assault on the tournament pitchers going 3 for 4 with 3 Doubles, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored.  Leyners bases loaded double in the 3rd inning, gave the Sox a 4-2 lead.

Doug Rader

Doug Rader came up huge for the Sox in the clutch.  Raders RBI Single in the 7th gave the Sox their 9-8 victory over the heavily favored Arizona Angels.  Doug also Singled home a run in the 5th inning.

2 for 3 - 2 Singles, BB, 2 RBI

 

Billy Malloy

After pitching a complete game the night before in Round 1, Malloy came in to bail out the Sox who blew an 8-2 lead in the 6th.  Malloy pitched 2 Shut Out innings, picking up his 2nd playoff victory.

Billy Malloy

Billy Malloy making his first appearance for the Sox would not dissapoint.  Malloy pitched a complete game allowing only 1 earned run on 7 hits and striking out 10.  Billy found a way to get under the skin of the Storm, and cruised to an easy victory.

Nephty Cruz

Nephty Cruz had his best game of the tournament picking up 3 hits, driving in 4 runs, and scoring a run.  Cruz gave the Sox a 2-0 lead in the first with a 2 run bases loaded single.  Nephty's legacy of a big game player continues!

 

3 for 5 - 3 Singles, 4RBI, R

 

Gary Gottlob

Gary Gottlob got things going for the Sox and had a monster game picking up 4 hits, and scoring 3 runs.  Gottlob also played solid defense in center field.

 

4 for 5 - 4 Singles, 3R, SB

 

Joe Alvarez

Joe Alvarez, the spark plug of the White Sox team, was just that.  In 3 plate appearances, Alvarez picked up 2 hits, a walk, drove in a run, scored a run, and stole a base before leaving the game with an injury.

Game 5 vs. Newport Storm

Joe Alvarez

Joe Alvarez, who was getting the game off to rest for the playoffs, came up big off the bench for the Sox.  With the Sox down 2-1 in the 8th inning, Alvarez came up with a pinch hit double, and scored the tieing run in the Sox 2-2 tie with the Storm.  Joe also came in and played great defense.

Andrew Palmieri

Andrew Palmieri pitching in his 2nd game of the tournament was outstanding on the mound.  Palmieri pitched 5 strong innings, allowing only 4 hits, and 1 Earned Run.

Joel Arroyo

Joel Arroyo came in to save the Sox after Palmieri had to leave the game with an injury.  Arroyo pitched 4 innings, allowing only 1 run on 6 hits.

Jason Leyner

In a disastrous game, Jason Leyner was the lone bright spot for the Sox.  Leyner collect 2 hits, and drove in the only 2 Sox runs.

Game 3 vs. San Francisco Isotopes

Darian Barranco

Darian Barranco made his first start for the Sox under rough conditions and stepped up to the challenge.  With some sloppy defense, Barranco was able to work out of a number of jams pitching 8 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run.

Sharif Upchurch

Sharif Upchurch kept his hot bat going collecting 2 hits and driving in 3 runs.  Upchurch also stole a base and kept a tired Sox team alive on the bench.

Game 2 vs. Prince William Yankees
October 8, 2005 - 3:00pm @ Peoria Mariners 5

 

David Jiminian

David Jiminian kept the Sox hot tournament start going pitching 8 shut out innings and picking up the 2nd win for the Sox.  Jiminian struggled with his control early, but found it and was able to cruise the rest of the way.  Dave allowed only 3 hits and struck out 7.

Gary Gottlob

Gary Gottlob used his speed to his advantage and was able to make things happen to get things going for the Sox.  Gottlob had an RBI Single and scored 2 of the 4 Sox runs in the 4-0 victory.

Andrew Palmieri

Andrew Palmieri, the emergency starter, was outstanding.  Palmieri found out about the start 5 minutes prior to going out to the mound.  In his 5 innings of work, Andrew gave up 5 hits, no runs, and struck out 10.

Sharif Upchurch

Sharif Upchurch was the offensive leader for the Sox in the 12-0 blowout victory over the Blacksox.  Upchruch was on base all 4 times with 2 hits, HBP, and an error.  Sharif scored a run, stole 2 bases, and drove in 2.

Randy Shupe

Randy Shupe came out like a house of fire collecting 3 hits in the Sox opening game of the tournament.  Shupes 3 hits, and RBI led the team to victory.
