THE NY/NJ WHITE SOX WIN THEIR 4TH CONSECUTIVE TITLE, 7TH LEAGUE TITLE OVERALL!!!
14 STRAIGHT PLAYOFF WINS!

The NY/NJ White Sox once again dominated the Lou Gehrig League by finishing the season with a 17-3 mark.  The Sox have been on fire since the 2005 season, when the Sox finished 16-3-1 but were eliminated by the Parsippany Brewers in the first round of the Lou Gehrig Semi-Finals.  Since that time, the Sox went 9-1 (3-0) to win the 2005 Fall Championship, then 17-3 (4-0) to win the 2006 Spring Championship, 8-2 (3-0) to win the 2006 Fall Championship, and finally 17-3 (4-0) to win the 2007 Spring Championship.  Since the 2005 Sping Season, the Sox have a Regular Season Record of 67-12-1, and are 14-2 in the Post Season.

The Sox once again entered the Lou Gehrig Playoffs as the #1 seed and took on the #4 seed Ridgefield Park Orioles in the Semi-Finals.  The Sox took Game 1 behind the dominating pitching of Jiminian (7IP, 1H, 0R, 4BB, 6K) and the hitting of Upchurch, Killian, and Jiminian, who each drove in 2 runs.  Reissner and Gottlob each added 2 hits in the victory.  In Game 2, the Sox sent Randy Shupe to the hill against the reigning Cy Young award winner Nick Colletto.  Shupe dominated the O's (7IP, 5H, 1ER, 2BB, 6K) as Colletto struggled.  David Jiminian picked up 5 hits and drove in 2 runs, while Sharif Upchurch hit a long home run, drove in 4 runs and scored 3 runs himself.  Leyner, Simone, and Shupe also drove in 2 runs a piece.  Randy Shupe helped his cause by going 4 for 5 in the game and scoring 2 runs.

On Came the #3 Seeded Saddle River Yankees.  This is the 6th consecutive year that the Saddle River Yankees have made it to the Spring Championship Series, but have been turned away the last 5 years.  The Sox were victorious in 2 of those season winning 2 game to 1 in 2003, and 2 games to none in 2006.

The Sox sent out red hot Randy Shupe to the hill against Yankee Ace Mike Carey.  Shupe struggled early as the Yanks jumped out to a 5-1 lead after 3 and a half innings.  But the Sox would start their comeback in the bottom of the 4th.  Sharif Upchurch drilled a long 2 run home run over the center field fence cutting the Yankee lead to 5-3.  Randy Shupe's RBI Triple in the 5th cut the Yankee lead to 5-4, before Jiminian tied the game with an RBI Single in the 6th.  The score held until the 8th when back to back walks to Gottlob and Upchurch brought up Jimmy Killian with 2 outs.  Killian, known for his post season dominance, continued that trend.  Jimmy lined the first pitch he saw off the center field gate scoring 2 runs giving the Sox a 7-5 lead and Game 1 victory.  Upchurch, Killian, and Jiminian each drove in 2 runs a piece, while Shupe added an RBI in the victory.  Game 2 was just as great as Game 1.  The Sox sent out David Jiminian to close out the series against Rick Enright of the Yankees.  The Sox drew first blood in the 4th scoring 4 runs behind an RBI by Gottlob, and 2 RBI Single by Leyner.  An error gave the Sox a 4-0 lead.  Enright and Corso of the Yankees would hit back to back RBI Singles cutting the Sox lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the 3rd.  Adam Lights RBI Single gave the Sox a 5-2 lead in the 5th, which held until the 8th inning.  Down 5-2, the Yankees would mount a comeback.  Enright lead off the 8th with a walk, followed by back to back Singles from Corso and McKlennan to load the bases.  With 1 out, Murphy lined a 2 run double down the line making the score 5-4.  Balsam-Kalman then tied the game with a Sac Fly.  But the Sox would come back swinging in the 9th.  Gary Gottlob led off the 9th inning and launched his first home run giving the Sox a 6-5 lead.  Upchurch followed with a single, and Jiminian drove him home with an RBI Triple.  Light then walked and moved to 2nd on a wild pitch that scored Jiminian.  Danny Mercado would then add an RBI Single to cap the scoring and give the Sox a 9-5 victory.  Jiminian pitched the complete game, 9 innings, allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, 5 walks, and 11 strikeouts.

2007 NABA BORICUA CARIBBEAN TOURNAMENT
THE NY/NJ WHITE SOX SWEEP PUERTO RICO - BORICUA CARIBBEAN CLASSIC!
CAPTURE 1ST TEAM TOURNAMENT TITLE!

The Sox entered the 2007 Boricua Caribbean Classic in Puerto Rico after being called out by the defending champions. The tournament was broken down to 2 divisions of 4 with 1 division playing aluminum bats and the other wood bats. The White Sox would play in the wood divison and would not lose a game.

In game 1 Randy Shupe took the mound against Pistol Petes. Shupe was on point pitching a complete game allowing only 6 hits, walked 1, struck out 6, and gave up no earned runs in a 12-1 win. Amable Martinez led the Sox offense going 3 for 4 with 2 Singles, a Home Run, 2 Runs Scored, and 2RBI. Joey "Baggs" Capogna also chipped in going 2 for 4 with a Single, Triple, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

Game 2 saw the Sox take on the defending champion NY All Stars. Eddie Santiago took the mound for the Sox and was dominant. Santiago pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs, on 7 hits, walked 3, and stuck out 3. The Sox came out swinging and took a 7-0 lead after 4 innings of play. In the 6th, the Sox defense would let the All Stars back in the game. With 2 outs, back to back errors opened the door for the Stars and they would take advantage of it by pushing 5 runs across the plate. But Santiago would stop the bleeding and cruise from there as the Sox won 7-5...

Game 3 saw a match up of 2 undefeated teams playing for a bye into the championship game. The Sox sent out Sean O'Brien to the hill to battle the Bronx Royals. O'Brien was dominant until his own mistake cost him. The Sox led 2-0 entering the 5th inning when the Royals were giving a chance and took advantage of it. With 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd Samelin chopped a single over the pitchers head. The runner over ran 3rd and was picked off, but O'Brien's throw hit the runner and allowed him to score. The Royals would add 3 more in the inning giving them a 4-2 lead over the Sox. The Sox would not back down. In the 6th Leyner's RBI Single cut the lead to 4-3. In the 7th the Sox would put the game away on 2RBI doubles by Joe Capogna and Antuan Barnett. The Sox led 7-4 and that was the final. O'Brien didn't figure in the decision, but pitched 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 walks, 6 strike outs, and no earned runs. Anthony Simone picked up the victory for the Sox pitching 3 shut out innings without allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 4.

The Championship Game was a rematch vs. the Bronx Royals. David Jiminian of the Sox made sure that the results stayed the same. The Sox offense jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on an RBI Double by Antuan Barnett, RBI Double by Rich Aleman, and RBI Single by Hector Espinal. Joe Capogna would extend the lead to 4-0 in the 5th with an RBI Single. The Royals would cut into the lead in the 5th when Rootenberg reached on an error and scored on a passed ball making it a 4-1 game. Then with 2 out in the 6th, a dropped fly ball gave Rodrigez a chance who hit an inside the park home run cutting the lead to 4-3. Rich Aleman would then take the game into his hands. In the 6th Aleman launched a long Home Run giving the Sox a 5-3 lead, then Singled in another run in the 8th giving the Sox a 6-3 victory. Jiminian pitched 9 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, 11 strikeouts, and no earned runs in the contest... Rich Aleman was named the Championship Game MVP going 3 for 4 with a Single, Double, Home Run, 2 Runs Scored, and 3RBI.

2006 LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE FALL SEASON
THE NY/NJ WHITE SOX COMPLETE A SEASON SWEEP OF THE LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE
BY WINNING THE FALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2 GAMES!!!

The Sox followed up their Spring Championship by going 8-2 in the Fall Regular Season.  Pitching was once again the key as the Sox posted a league low 2.13 ERA.  With the #1 Seed, the Sox took on long time rival and #4 Seeded Kearny Rangers in Round 1.  David Jiminian got the call for the Sox and dominated the Rangers leading the Sox to a 6-2 victory.  Kevin O'Neill led the Sox offense collecting 2 hits and driving in 2 runs.  With the victory, the Sox advanced to the 2006 Lou Gehrig Fall League Championship Series against the #2 seeded Colts Neck Braves.

On came the #2 Seeded Colts Neck Braves.  During the regular season, the Sox and Braves split the 2 games they played, each winning by a 2-1 score.  The Championship Series would be just as exciting.  In Game 1, the Sox sent out Randy Shupe to face Chris Bott of the Braves.  This was an outstanding pitchers duel as both pitchers had shutouts going through 7 innings.  The Braves would then strike in the 8th inning, taking advantage of Sox mistakes.  2 errors opened the gates and the Braves pushed across 3 runs giving them a 3-0 lead.  But the Sox would not fold.  In the bottom of the 9th, Adam Light and Danny Mercado would hit back to back singles to start the inning.  Steve Surman then singled with 1 out to load the bases.  Juan Williams came up and hit an infield single to cut the Brave lead to 3-1.  After a strikeout, the Sox were down to their final out and sent up Jason Leyner.  Leyner would not disappoint as he lined a 2 run single to left field tying the game at 3.  With runners now on 1st and 2nd, David Jiminian came up and lined a game winning single to left field giving the Sox a 4-3 victory and 1-0 series lead.

Game 2 was another outstanding game.  The Sox sent out Colin Feneis to take on Pat Jackson of the Braves.  THe Sox would open up the scoring with a Home Run by Kevin O'Neill, and took a 3-0 lead on an RBI groundout by Light in the 4th, and RBI Single by Feneis in the 5th.  But this time the Braves would make a comeback.  Defensive miscues once again did the Sox in as the Braves would score 4 unearned runs in the 6th to take a 4-3 lead.  The Sox would not back down and tied the game in the 8th when Championship Series MVP Jason Leyner led off with a double, moved to 3rd on a Single by O'Neill and scored on a Mercado RBI Ground Out.  With the game tied at 4 in the 9th, Steve Surman led off with a double and scored on a Game Winning RBI Single by Leyner.  Feneis pitched a complete game, 9 innings, allowing 7 hits, no earned runs, 4 walks, and 11 strikeouts.

The NY/NJ White Sox completed an outstanding 2006 season with a record of  32-5 (17-3 in the Spring, 4-0 in the Spring Playoffs, 8-2 in the Fall, and 3-0 in the Fall Playoffs).  In the past 2 years, the Sox hold a record of 60-11-1.

To complete the perfect season, the NY/NJ White Sox would win every Lou Gehrig League Fall Award.

Jason Leyner - Championship Series MVP
Gary Gottlob - League MVP

2006 LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE SPRING SEASON
NY/NJ WHITE SOX SWEEP THE SADDLE RIVER YANKEES TO CAPTURE 5TH TITLE!

The NY/NJ White Sox continued their league dominance by finishing the season with a 17-3 mark.  This comes after the 2005 Spring Season ended with a 16-3-1 (0-2 in the playoffs) record, and a 12-1 (3-0 in the playoffs - Championship) mark in the Fall Season.

The #1 Seeded Sox opened the 2006 Lou Gehrig Playoffs with a rematch of the 2005 Semi-Finals against the Parsippany Brewers.  Last season the Brewers swept the Sox, but the Sox would return the favor this season.  In Game 1, David Jiminian and the Sox dominated the Brewers in route to a 10-2 victory.  Jiminian pitches a complete game, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 13.  The offense was lead by Sharif Upchurch and David Jiminian, who each collected 2 hits, and drove in 2 runs a piece.  Adam Light also had an impressive outing with 3 hits, and 1 run batted in.  Game 2 proved to be a tougher battle as the Brewers didn't want to go down without a fight.  Dave Wasserman of the Sox took on Brian Stegan.  Both pitchers put out an outstanding effort, and the Sox went into the 9th inning with a 5-2 lead.  The Brewers would tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, but the resilient Sox would score 3 in the top of the 10th for an 8-5 victory.

On Came the #3 Seeded Saddle River Yankees.  This marks the 5th straight year that Saddle River advanced to the Finals.  This series is also a rematch of the 2003 Lou Gehrig Spring Finals where the Sox won 2 games to 1.  After his outstanding performance in the Semi-Finals, Dave Wasserman got the call in Game 1 against Michael Carey of the Yankees.  In an exciting Game 1, the Yankees gave the Sox all they had.  The lead in this one changed hands 4 times, with the Yankees taking a 1-0 lead in the 2nd.  Danny Mercado's 2 run Single in the bottom of the 2nd gave the Sox a 2-1 lead.  Saddle River would once again battle back with 2 runs in the 4th.

2005 LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE FALL SEASON

THE NY/NJ WHITE SOX SWEEP THE NEW JERSEY KNIGHTS TO WIN THEIR 4TH TITLE IN 8 YEARS!

After a disappointing ending to a great spring season, where the Sox finished 16-3-1, only to be eliminated by the Parsippany Brewers in the Playoffs, the Sox rebound and win the Fall Championship 2 games to none.  The Sox finished with the #1 Seed after posting a record of 9 and 1.  In the first round, the Sox would host the #4 Bergen Yankees and Ace Darian Barranco.  The Sox would counter with Sean O'Brien.  O'Brian was dominant over 8 innings allowing only 1 earned run and the offense was lead by Nephty Cruz (Home Run-3RBI), and Lou Amador (3RBI).  Onto the Finals!

On came the #2 New Jersey Knights, who finished the season 8-2.  In the regular season, the 2 teams split the series, The Sox winning 1-0 in Game 1, and the Knights winning 12-1 in the 2nd game.  The much anticipated match up of team Aces pitted Billy Malloy of the Knights vs. David Jiminian of the Sox.  The pitchers would not disappoint!  Jiminian was on, pitching a complete game allowing only 2 runs on 11 hits, walking 2, and striking out 10.  Malloy also pitched a complete game allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts.  The offense was lead by David Jiminian who collected the biggest hit of the game, a bases loaded 2 RBI Single to give the Sox a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning.  That was Jiminian's 3rd RBI of the game.

In Game 2, the Sox sent out Juan Williams to close the deal against Mike Ryan of the Knights.  Williams was dominant, pitching a complete game allowing only 3 hits and 1 run, while giving up 8 walks, and striking out 4.  Ryan was not as fortunate.  The Sox offense jumped on Ryan and knocked him out after 7 innings of work.  After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning due to an error, Alvarez came through with a huge RBI Double in the 5th.  The Sox would go up 3-0 on an RBI Single by Colon in the 6th.  The biggest blows came in the 7th inning.  With the Sox now up 3-1, Alvarez led off with a single.  Juan Williams and Nephty Cruz then hit back to back Home Runs to put the game out of reach.  Alvarez, Cruz, and Colon each collected 3 hits.  The Sox went on to win their 4th Championship in their 8 year career!

2003 LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE FALL SEASON

THE NY/NJ WHITE SOX COMPLETE A SEASON SWEEP OF THE LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE
BY WINNING THE FALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2 GAMES!!!

The Sox followed up their Spring Championship by going 10-0 in the Fall Regular Season.  Pitching was the key as the Sox posted a league low 1.26 ERA.  Using wood bats for the first time, many of the averages were lower than usual but the team still managed to lead the league with a respectable .303 average.   With the 10-0 record, the Sox had the first round bye and took on the Englewood Marauders, who defeated the Kearny Rangers in Round 1.  Game 1 belonged to Jiminian and the Sox as they won 4-1.  The offense was lead by Barkley who was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and 5 stolen bases.  Jiminian and Polizzano posted the RBIs for the Sox.  Game 2 saw the Sox lose their first game of the year in extra innings 9-4.  The opportunities were there, but the Sox couldn't push across the winning run.  Polizzano was 2-4 with a double and a triple, TenCate had 2 RBI and LePage had the other.  Vega was the hard luck loser.  Game 3 saw the Sox get back to basics and do the little things.  LePage was on the mound and was un-hittable.  On the offensive side, Polizzano was 3-4 with 2 Doubles and 3 RBI, TenCate had 2 RBI, LePage and Alvarez had 1 each.

On came the #2 seeded Parsippany Yankees in the Lou Gehrig Finals (best of 3).  Game 1 was a classic pitchers duel.  Dean Podlas made his first start of the post season and was simply amazing.  Dean allowed a run in the 1st inning on 2 hits and a sac fly, and only allowed 2 other hits the following 7 innings.  With the Sox down 1-0 in the 7th inning, Joe Alvarez tied the game with an RBI single.  2 batters later, Nephty Cruz singled in the eventual game winner and the Sox took a 1-0 series lead.  Tony LePage came in to close the door in the 9th, striking out 2 and allowing 1 hit.  Game 2 was just as exciting as Game 1.  The Sox found themselves down 3-0 after 3 innings due to some sloppy play.  Alvarez supplied the wake up call by hitting a long home run to left field.  Down 3-1 in the 6th, the Sox responded by scoring 3 on an RBI Single by Polizzano and a 2RBI Double by LePage.  The Yankees would tie the score in the bottom of the inning and eventually send the game into extra innings.  Both teams had their chances, but it was the Sox who took advantage of it in the 12th.  With runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out, TenCate hit a ball that was booted by the 3rd baseman.  This loaded up the bases for Sal Nicosia, who hit the first pitch he saw to left field that scored 2 runs.  Dave Jiminian started and pitched all the way through the 11th inning and started the 12th inning.  But after a strike out, Jiminian began to tire and walked a batter bringing up the tying run to the plate.  In came LePage to close the door striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced and recording his 2nd save in as many games.

To complete the perfect season, the NY/NJ White Sox would win every Lou Gehrig League Fall Award.

Joe "RP" Alvarez - Championship Series MVP
David Jiminian - League MVP
David Jiminian - League Cy Young
Sal Nicosia - Manager of the Year

The NY/NJ White Sox became the first team in League History to Sweep the Spring and Fall Championships...  Great work guys!

2003 LOU GEHRIG LEAGUE SPRING SEASON

The Sox finished the season 8-11-1 and once again got into the playoffs on the final day.  The Sox needed to win or tie against the Englewood Marauders on that final day.  With the Sox down 6-4 in the 7th inning, Dave Jiminian hits a 2 run home run to tie the game.  Jiminian also came into the game to pitch while the Sox were down 6-2.  The game would go extra innings and would end in a tie after 11 innings.  Jiminian pitched 8 innings, striking out 10 and allowing only 4 hits.

Round 1 saw the Sox take on the #3 seeded Parsippany Brewers.  With Jiminian again on the mound, the Sox went on to beat the Brewers 5-0.

Next up was the Semi-Final Round against the heavily favored #1 seeded Verona Marlins, who won the previous 3 Lou Gehrig Championships.  The Sox found themselves down 13-0 after 4 innings of play in game 1.  But the never say die attitude saw the Sox fight back to tie the game and win it in extra innings 18-13.  The Marlins would win game 2 by the score of 6-3 to even up the series.  The deciding game 3 went to the Sox by the score of 13-8.  Joe Soto saves Sox by pitching in all 3 games!  Sal Nicosia goes 8-10 in the series to lead the offense.

On came the #2 seeded Saddle River Yankees in the Championship Series.  The Sox on a high after beating the Marlins took an 8-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning only to see the Yankees score 3 in the 8th and win the game on a walk off 3 run home run by Kelleher.  Tony LePage strikes out 16 in the game, Alvarez goes 3-5 with 3 RBIs.  Once again the Sox would not give up sending their Ace to the mound in game 2.  The Sox took the early 4-1 lead and cruised to a 7-3 victory to even up the series.  Jiminian strikes out 18 and allowed only 1 earned run.  Polizzano's 3 RBIs and 2RBIs by Acosta led the way for the offense.  Game 3 crowned the Sox as the Champions with a 13-9 victory.  Red Muniz got the win, striking out 11 in 6 innings and Championship MVP Dave Jiminian picked up the save.  3RBIs from LePage and Jiminian to go with Home Runs by Barkley, Ten Cate, and Jiminian led the way.

To complete the perfect season, the NY/NJ White Sox Won the following Lou Gehrig League Spring Awards.

David Jiminian - Championship Series MVP
David Jiminian - League Cy Young

Congratulations to all on an outstanding season!
