Sox Take 1-0 Series Lead...

The #1 seeded NY/NJ White Sox opened the 2006 Lou Gehrig Semi-Finals with a 10-3 victory over the #4 seeded Parsippany Brewers. David Jiminian started and was dominating on the mound. Jiminian pitched a complete game, 9IP, allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run, walked 3, and struck out 13. The struggling Sox offense scored early and often today. In the first, after a leadoff walk to Capogna, Alvarez SAC bunt, led to an RBI Single by Upchurch, and later an RBI Sac Fly by Jiminian. Adam Light singled home a runin the 2nd to give the Sox a 3-0 lead. After the Brewers made it a 3-1 game, Jiminian quickly got that run back with a single in the 3rd. With the Sox up 5-1, they would blow the game open in the 7th due to some wildness by the Brewers pitchers. 3 hit batters, a walk, a sacrafice, and 2 hits later, the Sox had themselves a 9-1 lead (Shupe, Alvarez, and Upchurch each collected an RBI). Catano would add an RBI Double in the 8th for a 10-1 lead before the Brewers would score 2 unearned runs in the 9th inning.

The Sox take the 1-0 series lead and look to close out the Brewers in game 2 on Sunday night, 7:00pm at Smith Field in Parsippany...
