Sox Suffer 1st Loss
Light, Leyner, O'Brien Lead Cards

The NY/NJ White Sox lost their first game of the season to the Clifton Cardinals by the score of 7-3.  Gary Harris (7IP, 9H, 5ER, 1BB, 9K) made his first start of the season.  Harris made 2 mistakes in the game which cost him.  The Sox took advantage of defensive mistakes to jump up 2-0 after the 1st inning.  Gary gave the Sox a 3-0 lead in the 4th with his first Home Run of the season.  But in the bottom of the 4th with the bases loaded, Harris hung a curve ball to Light, who cleared the bases with a double.  The game was put away in the 7th when the Cards took the lead on an error by the 2nd baseman, then Leyner drove a fast ball DEEP into center field for a triple and 2RBI and gave the Cards a 6-3 lead.  Leyner would score on a SAC Fly to give the Cards the victory.

For the Cards, Sean O'Brien came in to shut the Sox down after Wass couldn't throw a strike in the first inning.  O'Brien gave up only 5 hits and 1 run over his 8.2 innings of work.

The turning point of the game came in the 6th inning with the scored tied at 3, the Sox had 1st and 3rd with no out, but a baserunning mistake killed the inning, and the Sox did not score.
