Jiminian Strikes Again! Marauders No Match for Sox Ace...
The NY/NJ White Sox won their 10th game of the season as they defeated the Englewood Marauders by the score of 3-1. Marauder Killer David Jiminian started (9IP, 5H, 0ER, 3BB, 13K) and was his usual dominant self. Jiminian carried a shut out into the 8th inning when a 2out error by the short stop allowed the only Marauder run to score. The run scored in the 8th inning ended Jiminian's 28 inning scoreless streak (32 innings including his 4 shut out innings in the all star game last week). Marauder starter Dave Hill was equally as dominant on the mound allowing only 8 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 15. The Sox scored the first run of the game in the 6th when Mercado led off with a walk, stole 2nd, then while stealing 3rd, the throw went into left field allowing him to score. The game was 1-0 until the bottom of the 8th when Tremayne Sheppard came through with a 2 out single to tie the game. But in the top of the 9th, the Sox would score 2 runs to finish off the Marauders. Barkley reached on an error, followed by an RBI Doubly by Alvarez, and RBI Singly by Sencion.
OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Joe Alvarez 3-4 (Single, 2 Doubles, R, RBI), Sergio Sencion 1-4 (RBI Single), Pete Polizzano 1-3 (Single, BB), Jiminian 1-4 (Single), and Jose Ferreira 1-4 (Single).
With the Victory, Jiminian is now 5-0 in the league with a league best 0.41 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 44 innings. David's career numbers against the Marauders improved to 7-0 with a 0.61 ERA (4 Earned Runs in 59.1 innings), 76 Strike Outs in 59.1 innings.
The Sox will now get a much deserved week off and get ready to play the Bergen Yankees on Thursday night July 9th. Game time is at 7:30pm at Buckley Park in Paterson...
