"Odd" Squad Defeats "Even" Squad
The "Odd" Squad, comprised of the Parsippany Brewers, NY/NJ White Sox, Clifton Cardinals and Berkeley Heights Reds defeated the "Even" Squad, comprised of the Englewood Marauders, Saddle River Yankees, Bergen Yankees, Bronx Royals, and North Bergen Tainos by the score of 4-0. The story of the day was the pitching from the "Odd" Squad where the combination of the PHD Express mowed through the "Even" Squad. League MVP/Cy Young winner David Jiminian of the White Sox pitched the first 4 innings and was his usual dominant self pitching 4 no hit innings, walking 0, striking out 5, and picked up the Win. Randy Shupe (Shupe Express) of the Clifton Cardinals then came in and breezed through 3 innings allowing 1 hit, walking 0, and striking out 1. Joe Alvarez of the White Sox then came in to close the door pitching the final 2 innings, allowing 0 hits, 0 walks, 1 strike out, and picked up the save...
Defense for the "Odd" Squad was impressive as there were a number of great plays made. Joe Alvarez, and Angel Acosta of the White Sox led the way making play after play.
Offensive Highlights - Nephty Cruz (White Sox) 2-3 (2 Singles, BB, R), Sharif Upchurch (Cardinals) 1-2 (Single, Sac Fly, RBI, HBP), Jason Grebin (Reds) 1-4 (2 RBI Single), David Jiminian (White Sox) 1-3 (Single), Frank Pacifico (Brewers) 1-4 (Single, R, RBI), and Mike Amaditz (Brewers) 1-3 (Single).
For the "Even" Squad, the only hit was an infield hit by Darian Barranco of the Bergen Yankees. Legacy of the Marauders and Barranco of the Bergen Yankees combined for 4 shut out innings, while Contreras of the Royals and Beloff of the SR Yankees each gave up 2 runs...
