NY/NJ White Sox - 2008 Lou Gehrig Champions!
With their backs to the wall, The NY/NJ White Sox had their
best offensive game of the season and destroyed the Englewood Marauders 19-4 to
win their 3rd Consecutive Lou Gehrig Spring Title. Anthony Simone got the call
in the biggest game of the year, and he would not disappoint. Simone pitched a
complete game, 8 innings, allowing only 2 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 2, and
struck out 4.
The Sox started the scoring in the first taking advantage of an error to take a
1-0 lead. The Marauders would then take advantage of Sox mistakes and take a 3-1
lead in the 3rd. David Jiminian's RBI Single in the 3rd cut the Marauder lead to
3-2. Then the fireworks started for the Sox. In the 5th, Gottlob hit an RBI
Triple, Simone was Hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Tim Lowe hit a bases
loaded triple, and Sharif Upchurch hit an RBI Single giving the Sox a 7 run
inning and 9-3 lead. After a big comeback victory by the Marauders in game 2,
The Sox would make sure it would not happen again. Up 9-4 in the 6th, the Sox
would blow the doors open with a 6 run 6th on an RBI Single by Postal, RBI
Single by Lowe, 3 RBI Triple by Upchurch, and RBI Single by Gottlob. In the 8th,
the Sox would ensure that the mercy rule took place by scoring 4 runs on an RBI
Single by Gottlob, 2 RBI Single by Jiminian, and RBI Single by Light...
As another successful season comes to an end, the Sox players would like to
thank the families and girlfriends for being there and being supportive. We
would also like to thank all the players that helped out this season and leading
us to our 8th League Championship!!!
White Sox Take on the Marauders!
After losing Game 1 to the Brewers in embarrassing fashion, the Sox battle back to win Games 2 and 3 by a combined score of 25-4. Randy Shupe shut the Brewers down allowing no runs on only 2 hits over 6 innings, and Anthony Simone dominated the Brewers in Game 3 pitching a complete game 2 hitter.
The Englewood Marauders found themselves in similar trouble as they split their first 2 games with the Saddle River Yankees. Saddle River's bid to advance to the Championship Series for the 7th consecutive season fell just short as the Marauders won Game 3 by the score of 5-4 (in 11 innings).
The Sox and the Marauders, the #1 and #2 Seeds will now face off in the Best of 3 Championship Series. In the Regular Season, the White Sox defeated the Marauders in all 4 contests. In Game 1, Anthony Simone and Danny Mercado combined on a 1 hit Shut Out defeating Giannella and the Mob 6-0. In Game 2 Randy Shupe followed suite pitching 8 innings of 3 hit ball leading the Sox to a 5-3 victory. Giannella of the Marauders took the loss. After 2 well pitched games, Game 3 turned into a shoot out. Tobin Whitman struggled for the Sox and had a no decision. Kyle Goldwater pitched 2.2 innings of 1 hit relief to pick up the Victory. The Sox picked on all the Marauder pitchers on this day scoring 4 runs in 4 innings vs. starter Scarber, 5 runs in 3 innings off of Vega, and 3 off of loser Giannella. Game 4 turned into a blowout as the Sox won the game 11-2 behind the dominating pitching of Jason Leyner (complete game, 9IP, 2 runs). For the Mob, Scarber once again got the call and took the loss in this game. Giannella and Sheppard were each hit hard in relief...
The Top 2 Teams of the Lou Gehig League will now take aim at the 2008 Championship starting Sunday August 17th at JP Stevens High School in Edison, with Game 2 being played at Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood on Saturday August 23rd @ 10:00am...

Brooks pitched a complete game, allowing only 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6 without allowing a run.
The Championship Game saw the Sox take on the #1 Seed in Pool A, the Legion Lumberkings. The Sox took advantage of the Lumberkings mistakes as Jiminian and Leyner's RBI singles gave the Sox a 2-0 lead. The Lumberkings would not back down as a 2 run home run by Bass tied the game in the bottom of the first. In the 6th, a 2nd error by the Lumberkings led to a run and gave the Sox a 3-2 lead. In the 7th, Gary Gottlob's RBI Single gave the Sox a 4-2 lead. In the 9th, a double steal by Shupe and Montanez gave the Sox a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th. The Lumberkings would once again battle back. With 1 out, back to back singles by the #9 and #10 hitter brought the tying run to the plate. After a groundout, a Strikeout, WP loaded the bases for Bass, who homered in the 1st inning. Kyle Goldwater, who started the game for the Sox, promptly hit Bass bringing in a run. Kyle then enduced the cleanup hitter to ground out to the 3rd baseman to end the game. Goldwater pitched a complete game, allowing 5 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1, and stuck out 9.
